FileCase: application for mobile phones (Download this in PDF)

FileCase is an application for mobile phones and other mobile devices for managing your files and contents.

FileCase is developed in the programming language Java and runs on Android 2.1+.

The FileCase installation package consists of the FileCase.apk which is the standard Android application package.

The FileCase installation process is similar to other Android apps installation procedures.

Installation of FileCase from a personal computer

After downloading the FileCase installation files, the application can be installed from personal computer using a USB cable connection. Future releases of FileCase will include an AndroidMarket installation as well.

To install FileCase, copy the FileCase.apk to your device and open your default application installer. If you do not have an application installer, download one from the market (some free installers include AppInstaller or Astro File Manager). From your installer find the FileCase.apk and proceed as with any other Android application. Depending on your device configuration, you might be asked to confirm permissions.

After FileCase is installed, you can start it like any other application from the application list, by selecting the FileCase app.

FileCase is digitally signed by using digital certificate of MP System LLC ( Sp. z o.o. ) to let the user and its mobile phone unambiguously identify the application's code.

During the installation procedure you might be asked if you want to install the application on the SD card.

We recommend installing FileCase in the device internal memory for security and compatibility reasons.

FileCase installation requires appx. 0,5 MB of phone's memory capacity. FileCase stores data very effectively and therefore does not require a lot of memory.

Setting permissions

The FileCase application is developed in Java programming language for the Android system and therefore takes advantage of its built-in security, restricting in-memory access to its data for other applications. Additionally, the Android OS increases security by deploying strict access control to the device's resources for all installed applications. Each time the application requests access to the device's shared resources like connectivity, subdevices, memory etc. it obtains it only if the phone's user explicitely permits it.

User permissions can be revoked at any time.

FileCase requires permissions to work properly:

  • access to device's external memory ( read and edit permissions )
  • access to the phone state ( call status )

The application will ask for these permissions when it is being installed.

Starting FileCase

After having installed FileCase you can find it in the Android Launcher, like any other application.
